I couldn't resist sharing just a couple of quick shots from this sweet day. I love being able to photograph a little boy having fun!! We had a ball-rolling around on the ground, tossing the ball, and hiding toys. I love it when it when the fun shows up in the final photo :)
Take a look at my newest video featuring some recent maternity, newborn, and baby sessions. If the video above doesn't work for you, click here:
BABY PHOTOGRAPHY VIDEO If you know anyone who is expecting or might be interested in First Year portraits, please pass it along! Thanks. I thought I would do a series of blog posts to go into detail on the ins and outs of a newborn photography session. Whether you book a session with Suzanne Barber Images or not, these tips will help you know what to expect from your photographer. First and Foremost: WHEN to book your newborn session? If you are expecting, the time is now! :) To get the creative newborn sleeping poses, your portrait session really needs to be done in the first two weeks of life. After that, your baby will be more alert and awake, which means more moving around: exciting for Mom and Dad, but not ideal for the newborn portraits. When your sweet Bundle of Joy arrives, you may not be able to find the number for the photographer, much less the time to call and schedule an appointment. The best laid plans can fall apart in the face of sleep deprivation. I usually schedule a Newborn session for the due date. Obviously, babies cannot be quite so predictable, but it gives us a placeholder for scheduling. When your baby is born, you can send me a quick text or call so I can start the preparations. Ideally, I like to get babies into my home studio around 5 days new. But anywhere between 4 days and 14 days will be just fine.
In the meantime, you could schedule a Maternity Mini-session, to capture a few memories of this special time of anticipation. Also, I usually like to take some time before the new baby and find out more about your newborn image plans. Will you be needing announcements, wall portraits, gifts, albums, etc? What is your nursery going to be like, and would you like some Mommy & Me photos to include in your decor? What is your favorite style and pose for your new baby? That way, when the time comes, I can have the kind of props, wraps and backgrounds to suit your plans and style. This little guy will be on the front of my new postcards. I keep checking the front porch-can't wait for the UPS man! I also just made an appointment to take this baby's 10-month photographs. He's growing up-and I'm glad I was able to capture him with his teeny tiny toes that first week!
Just because. I decided to have a giveaway this week for a Target Gift Card. Who wouldn't love an extra $20 'happy' from Target?! Enter here and share it with your friends for more chances to win :) KA-CHING! Whatcha gonna buy? ![]() I had such a beautiful mommy-to-be and her sweet daughter to photograph recently. We barely got the session in, since she is scheduled to have the baby in about one week! On one of the hottest days of the year in Memphis, TN--this mama was such a trooper! And the results were just breath-taking. Best wishes to Karen and family! There is a new contest afoot with I Heart Faces. There is now a monthly prize, which is very cool, although just a 'winner' button was already a pretty great prize. This month is Black n White. I chose to enter this maternity photo, which is a different angle on the face theme. I like how this shows the pregnancy, but really focuses on mom. The black dress and background really let mom be the center of attention, instead of just her tummy. It suggests her connection to her future child as she holds her belly and contemplates. It feels very calm and quiet to me.
Go take a look at more entries---they are always beautiful... |
